Traceability
We source our fibers directly from small local farms in NYS through our cooperative The Carbon Farm Network. By moving designers to the beginning of the textile value chain and keeping our production small scale, we are able to provide more resources to our farmers ensuring a traceable and transparent textile supply ecosystem.
Support Local
Our priority is to nurture a thriving production system within our local community. We collaborate with small, New York State-based farms that practice carbon farming and partner with local mills to produce our products.
Distributed System
Through The CFN we are able to create distributed networks that mimic the mutual benefits found in natural systems. Our distributed supply networks promote transparency, trust and collaboration. They allow us and other designers in the cooperative to add deeper value to our products - through prioritizing the well-being of the people we work with and the natural environment we support.
Our Philosophy
In industrial textile supply chains, designers are often disconnected from the farms where fibers are grown and the mills that produce their textiles. These supply chains prioritize efficiency and centralized growth, leading to opacity, greed, distrust, and competition.
By working together, we can create distributed networks that mimic the mutual benefits found in natural systems. Distributed supply networks promote transparency, trust, and collaboration. They allow designers to add deeper value to their products, not just for profit, but for the well-being of people and the environment.
