Mending is a way to create a deeper connection to our much loved clothing and textiles. It's also an activity that can shift our focus away from the current clothing and textile production model of extraction, consumption and waste which is creating a strain on our environment. Stop by the Beacon Farmers' market on Sunday 10/6 and mend with us! Market-goers will be encouraged to bring old jeans, bags, sweaters, or anything else that needs to be patched, darned, or felted. We'll have materials for Japanese Sashiko, improvisational stitching, patching and needle felting to give new life to old clothes. We'll provide the materials, you bring your much loved textiles and nimble fingers.
